Su Paka Pooh
Su-Paka-Pooh are Japanese duo Hidehiko Murao and Ishizuka Chikashi. Murao plays the saxophone and programs, while Chikashi is a superstar DJ in major Tokyo night spots as The Room and Yellow. He also has a legendary radio show on Shibuya FM which has been going since 1989.
Chikashi describes the Su-Paka-Pooh sound as humanistic while Hidehiko opts for "sensation, enchantment, disappointment"....!
Their debut single "Jellyfish" (Kurage) tore up dancefloors all over the world, including heavy rotations at Body & Soul.
Su-Paka-Pooh covered the Art Ensemble Of Chicago's jazz-dance classic "Theme De Yo-Yo" (originally written by Fontella Bass who has recently collaborated with the Cinematic Orchestra) which featured a remix by Flower records head honcho Little Big Bee and Phil Ashers Restless Soul.
