Kev Luckhurst
Kev Luckhurst (formerly Phat Kev) is a turntablist DJ and producer from London, UK. His eclectic style covers a multitude of different genres spanning soul, Hip Hop, disco, Jazz and related.
With well over 10 years DJ experience under his belt, and having played and supported some of the worlds most respected artists, he is guaranteed to rock the party for both music heads and party audiences alike.
Initially gaining recognition for his turntablist skills in the DMC World DJ Championships (2xUK Finalist), Kev has has two major worldwide releases to his name, both on Mr Bongo:
“Brazilian Beats n’ Pieces” dropped in June 2007. Continuing our highly successful ‘Brazilian Beats’ compilation series. Kev selected, mixed, scratched and juggled his way through 30 of his favorite tracks from the previous compilations in an all-Brazilian cut-up mixtape, to rave reviews worldwide.
The “Wild Style Lesson EP” released in 2007 on Bongo as part of the “Wild Style” movies’ 25th Anniversary featured a 'Lesson' cut-and-paste mix by Kev, in the style of greats such as Double Dee & Steinski, DJ Format, Cut Chemist and Shadow, featuring the movies’ most famous sampled lyrics and beats. Also featured on the EP is Kev’s “Wild Style Scratch Tool” for all hip hop DJ's out there.
More recently he has collaborated with brother Greymatter on the track Back In The City on Greymatter's Mind Over Matter LP
