Flowriders
Flowriders is the band of Amsterdam based producer, beat maker and keys player Vincent Helbers.
He started out his career performing, writing and recording contemporary acoustic jazz, and now combines this with hip hop, broken beat and electronics. Fat grooves, tricky arrangements and “jazz wise” soloing make the band sound both raw and sophisticated.
The latest album "R.U.E.D.Y" is just has dropped on Mr Bongo Records and a 12" EP featuring the CO-OP smash hit “Russelology” was released in August 2007 including a Marc de Clive Lowe Remix plus an unreleased bonus track. The album features such great vocalists like Nia Saw, Spoonface and regular collaborator Colonel Red, not to mention live drum contribution from Richard Spaven (MdCL, 4hero, TY and many others). The sound is cosmic, twisted hip-hop-bruk-soul laced with soulful vocals all in the future manner.
Their debut album “Starcraft” was very well received by the international press: Straight No Chaser:”An Highly impressive debut”, Update Magazine:”broken beat ticking all the right boxes” DJ:” The dutch can stop searching, they’ve found the soul, the broken electronics, the spot-on acoustics, the soaring jazz”
