Doris

From Sweden comes the free-wheeling quirky Doris.

Another album that changed hands for in excess of $4-500 is 'Did you give the world some love today'. Pre-empting Bjork by 20 years, this was her "jazz" album but contains more than a hint of Joni Mitchell, Led Zep and the rest. Backed by her husband Lukas Lindholm on bass she was able to lay down some seriously funky bass lines on tracks like Don't and Beatmaker.

'Did you give the world some love today' has all the lush hippie sentiments entwined with a cranking beat that has been a folk funk standard for the last 2 years, another Peterson favourite. Janne Carlsson on drums unleashes a fearsome sound on You never come closer, helped by Bernot Egerladh on organ, an experimental track that was way ahead of its time. Her crazy lyrical juxtapositions made tracks like Bath sound drug inspired. Daisies and Whispering Pine are forerunners of that little girl lost Bjork style Scandanavian trip.

Let Doris into your life and then we'll show you what Tracey, Ethel, and Babs can do. 'Did you give the world some love today' has been remastered and is now available from Mr Bongo exclusively on CD & LP. Licenced from EMI Sweden..
