Ben Mitchell

As a producer, Ben has worked with such credible artists as Terry Callier, The Lo Fidelity All-Stars and Afrobeat legend Bukky Leo. His own projects include Sao Benitez whose huge remixes of Masters At Work, Paula Lima, Samantha Mumba and Jimmy Smith have all been club anthems in their own right and can be found on the Sao Benitez album ‘Elemental’.

The new Sao Benitez album “Feeling High” features some of the finest musicians around including Billie Godfrey on vocals and Kevin Robinson (Incognito/Simply Red) on trumpet.

Ben is also the founder of Mr Hermano releasing two albums on Mr Bongo, ‘O’Globo’ and ‘Free As The Morning Sun’. He has collaborated with legendary Jazz DJ, Russ Dewbury, the album Mitchell & Dewbury ‘Beyond The Rains’ features the drum and bass classic remix by Drumagick. Recent projects include remixes of Brazilian legend Seu Jorge, Rios Marcello D2, Beverley Knight and Brenda Russell as well as a remix of Eddy De Clercq for Blue Note Records. The current album in production is Billie Godfreys debut album ‘A New Soul’.

Ben’s music has been used heavily in the media including adverts for Nike, Adidas and Swatch. He has been commissioned to compose pieces for Landrover, Good Year, VW, British Land and UBS.

As a DJ he has played world wide, most recently at the Favela Chic - Paris, The Venice Film Festival, Movement - Toronto, One Happy Cloud - Athens and the Blue Note – Tokyo. Last year Ben played at the MTV Awards in Lisbon with the rest of the Mr Bongo Soundsystem.
